An independent engineering opinion on spray foam
FoamEngineer.com exists to give architects, general contractors, developers, and building owners a technical, building-science-grounded read on spray polyurethane foam — before it's installed, or after something has gone wrong. We review specs, investigate failures, and advise on code compliance. We do not sell, market, or install SPF.

Independent by design.
A spray foam contractor's estimate is scoped around their own installation and their own liability. That's a normal and necessary part of the industry — but it isn't independent, and it isn't engineering. We work the other side of that relationship: reviewing an assembly on its technical merits, or investigating a failure on its actual root cause, without a stake in who ends up doing the installation or the fix.
That distinction matters most when the stakes are highest — a spec headed to permit with a deadline attached, or a failure that's turned into a dispute between an owner and a contractor. In both cases, the value of our opinion depends on it not being for sale to either side.
Three principles
Building-science grounded
Findings and recommendations are grounded in established vapor-permeability, thermal-performance, and code-compliance principles — not guesswork or brand loyalty to any foam manufacturer.
No installation, no referral fee
We don't install spray foam and we don't take a placement fee for referring your project to a specific contractor. The opinion is the product.
Scoped and documented
Every engagement starts with a written scope and fee estimate, and ends with a documented deliverable — a marked-up spec, a compliance memo, or a forensic report.

Tell us about the project — a spec that needs a stamped review, a failed installation that needs a root-cause finding, or a code question that needs a straight answer — and we'll scope the engagement.
